Ben Duck left a career as a financial lawyer to found Gravity Well Brewing Co in 2018, converting a railway arch next to Leyton Midland Road station into a nano-brewery producing beer in 100-litre batches. He built the site's custom brewhouse himself and fitted an unusually thorough reverse-osmosis water filtration system for a brewery of that size. An informal taproom opened in an adjacent arch in 2019 and later expanded into separate premises. Production has since moved to a larger unit in Tottenham, but the original Leyton taproom continues to operate, pouring ten draught lines of Gravity Well's pales, IPAs, sours and dark beers alongside a wine and cocktail list. The taproom sources food from Spicebox, a local vegan Indian kitchen, rather than running its own. Beer names and can artwork lean on astronomical imagery throughout the brewery's branding.
