Lucy Young trained in fine art at Winchester School of Art before retraining as a potter at Whichford Pottery in the Cotswolds, and now works from Unit D2 of the Maws Craft Centre in Jackfield, the converted Victorian works of what was once the world's largest tile factory. She throws domestic ware — mugs, toast racks, bird feeders — alongside bespoke commissions, and has made branded tankards for breweries including Harvey's, Verdant and Gun; her father made pottery for local breweries in the 1980s and 90s. Beginners can book a wheel-throwing taster session or a full course, and the studio runs family workshops through the school holidays. It opens Thursday to Sunday.
