The García family has sold Spain from Portobello Road since 1957 — the largest Spanish grocer in London by its own billing and nobody's serious dispute — and the shop remains the reference source for the community and its cooks: the jamón counter, the walls of conservas, the manchegos, the proper turrón at Christmas. It was here decades before the market's antiques-postcard era and has outlasted several waves of what Notting Hill thought it was becoming; the food-safety inspectors gave it top marks at the January 2024 inspection, and the shop trades seven days a week, longest on the days the market runs.
