Roehill Springs Distillery operates from a converted farm building at Newtack, on the Morrison family's farm near Keith, a holding that has been in the family for more than sixty years. Duncan and Shirley Morrison set up the distillery in 2019, drawing on Duncan's background as a stillman in the whisky industry and his qualification from the Institute of Brewing and Distilling. The gins are distilled in small batches using spring water drawn from a source on the farm called Roehill, named for the roe deer that graze near it, and are bottled, labelled and waxed by hand on site. The core range includes Gin No 5, a London dry style, and a navy strength gin, both made with foraged and traditional botanicals. Gin No 5 won gold at the International Wine and Spirits Competition and a Great Taste Award star in 2021, while the navy strength gin was named best London dry gin in Scotland at the World Gin Awards in 2022. Bottles are sold online and through shops across northern Scotland.
