The Fiddichside Inn sits on the edge of Craigellachie beside the River Fiddich, built in 1842 as refreshment rooms for railway workers and little altered since. The Smith family bought it in November 1919, and their daughter Dorothy ran the bar for decades until her death in 2009, after which her husband Joe kept it going until 2017. There is no music, no television and no fruit machine, and mobile phones are discouraged, in keeping with the inn's reputation as one of the last unspoilt pubs on Speyside. A self-contained two-bedroom holiday cottage sits alongside the bar for anglers, walkers and whisky visitors staying nearby. The pub draws a mix of locals, fishermen working the Spey and distillery workers from the surrounding glens.
