The Whistle Stop opened on 2 November 2019 in the former parcels office on Platform 1 of Grantham railway station, reached from both the street and the platform itself. It operates as a leasehold micropub rather than a tied house, pouring real ale through three handpumps alongside a short list of other drinks, with only basic snacks and hot drinks on the food side. Seating spills onto a stretch of platform outside, where dogs on leads are welcome given the station setting, and the room itself keeps the low-key, conversation-first character typical of the micropub style, with no music or screens competing for attention. CAMRA members get a discount at the bar. Being inside a working station, the pub draws passengers waiting for trains as much as it does regulars who travel in for a pint.
