Beatin' Rhythm opened in 1990 under the name Goldmine, later becoming Beatin' Rhythm as it built a reputation as a specialist in Northern soul, funk, modern and rare soul vinyl. The shop traded from Tib Street in the Northern Quarter until it closed that site in October 2015 and moved to its present first-floor unit at Bank House Studios in Prestwich. Staff members Carl, Tom and Derek run the counter, drawing on decades of specialist knowledge to source rare 45s and LPs, along with CDs and books on soul and Motown. The shop is now in its mid-thirties as a business and is still described by regional guides as one of the country's leading sellers of rare soul vinyl, serving collectors from across the North West and further afield who travel specifically for its stock. Customers can browse in person or contact the shop directly to ask after specific releases.
