New DawnPottery

New Dawn Pottery runs from a studio unit in Wellington House on Pollard Street East, close to the New Islington tram stop on the edge of Ancoats. Founded by ceramicist Filipa Marques and incorporated in January 2023, the studio offers one-off classes, weekly courses, drop-in throwing sessions and memberships for both beginners and more experienced potters. Sessions cover hand building and wheel throwing, with instructors working alongside students at a small number of wheels rather than in a lecture format. The studio has built a following among people looking to learn a new skill outside a formal art school setting, and finished pieces are fired and glazed on site before collection.
