Bellevue Guest House occupies a Georgian terrace house on Minto Street, built in 1835, a short walk from the shops and cafes of Newington. The building has been modernised behind its period facade, and every room now has its own en-suite bathroom, though the tall windows, high ceilings and cornicing of the original house remain visible throughout. The guest house is run as a family business rather than as part of any hotel group, with a small enough room count that the same people tend to be at the front desk from one visit to the next. No smoking is permitted anywhere on the premises. Newington's bus routes run straight into the centre, putting the castle, the Royal Mile and the National Museum of Scotland within easy reach without needing a car. The approach stays close to traditional bed and breakfast rather than any boutique repositioning.
