Buoy and Oyster opened on Margate's High Street in November 2015, established by chef Simon Morriss and his wife Nadine as a family-run restaurant overlooking the beach. A refurbishment in 2019 created an open theatre kitchen and seafood bar, and the same year the restaurant was awarded two AA Rosettes, which it has held ever since. Fish and shellfish arrive from day boats working out of Margate, Whitstable, Ramsgate, Folkestone and Broadstairs, often reaching the kitchen the same day they are landed. Alongside seafood platters and oysters, the menu includes a Sunday roast and non-seafood dishes such as mushroom Wellington. The dining room looks directly out over Margate sands.
