Buttercup Cafe occupies a converted shopfront on Doune's Main Street, run by owner Lorna Bishop through the registered company Buttercup Cafe Limited. The cafe serves breakfast and brunch dishes alongside a changing selection of home-baked cakes and traybakes, with gluten-free and vegetarian options listed on every menu. Tables fill the front room and a smaller back space, with additional seating outside in summer. The kitchen bakes daily rather than buying in, and regulars return for the soup and sandwich lunches as much as the cake counter. It operates seven days a week from mid-morning, closing mid-afternoon. Doune's Main Street sits a short walk from Doune Castle, and the cafe serves both village residents and visitors heading to or from the castle grounds. It is independently owned, with no other branches.
