Bernardo Capaldi, an Italian immigrant who first opened ice-cream parlours in Edinburgh and Kingussie, bought the Brora shop for his son Alfredo in 1929. The recipe passed through the family to Alfredo's brother Victor, who ran it until 1983, then through two further owners before Lorna Campbell, a former Harry Gow employee from Brora, bought the business in 2016. Campbell reopened it in June 2021 at Fountain Square, the shop's original site vacated in 1959 when Victor Capaldi moved to Rosslyn Street. The building was once part of the Grand Hotel. A second outlet, the Wee Pink Shop, trades on Golspie's Main Street. Flavours include a Highland Midge variety alongside the traditional Italian-recipe dairy ice cream the shop has always been known for.
