Known locally as the Colly, Colinton Inn stands on Bridge Road at the centre of Colinton Village, a single independent pub rather than part of a managed chain. Its L-shaped lounge bar keeps a wooden counter and gantry to one side and bench seating to the other, while a separate downstairs function suite overlooks the garden and hosts live music, gin tastings and wine tastings. The bar rotates real ales alongside more than twenty gins and a broad selection of malt whisky, with bar food such as toasties, soup and sharing platters served through the day. Colinton Village grew up around the Water of Leith and was reshaped after the railway reached it in the 1870s; the inn remains one of the village's few surviving pubs.
