The Pritchard family have farmed at Weobley Castle, above the salt marshes of the north Gower coast, for three generations, and their lamb — grazed on the samphire and sea-washed turf of the marsh — is good enough to carry protected status: Gower Salt Marsh Lamb was awarded PGI in 2021, one of a small number of Welsh foods to hold it. Will and Dan Pritchard sell it from a farm shop at the castle, by arrangement, and direct across the country. The marsh gives the meat its particular flavour, and the family has spent years making the case for it. Buy it at the gate, in the shadow of a medieval castle, off the people who raised it.
