Grangemouth HeritageTrust

Grangemouth Heritage Trust was founded in 1992 by a group of local volunteers who set out to record the town's industrial past before it was lost. The trust moved into its present premises at La Porte Precinct, behind the public library, in 1998, and has run entirely on volunteer labour ever since. Display cases hold photographs of the docks, the refinery workforce and demolished streets, alongside school photographs donated by former pupils. Visitors can sit down with volunteers to trace family history or ask about a particular building that no longer stands. There is no paid staff and no council funding; donations left at the door cover the running costs of the room. Opening hours depend on volunteer availability, so callers are advised to check ahead before making a special trip.
