Gwin Llŷn Wines has traded from Y Maes in Pwllheli since 2006, when Dean Pritchard, then a relative newcomer to the drinks trade, took on the shop with his wife Margaret and set about learning it properly. The couple spent years visiting vineyards, distilleries and breweries across Europe to understand production as well as sales, and now stock over a hundred Welsh-made wines, beers and spirits alongside international names, including bottles from the nearby Llwynhudol vineyard on the Llŷn Peninsula. Staff offer tastings and personal recommendations rather than leaving customers to browse alone. The shop was named Independent Drinks Retailer of the Year at the Drinks Retailing Awards in 2019. Opening hours stretch later into the evening on Fridays to catch after-work trade.
