Yr Heliwr

Yr Heliwr trades from the building known for generations as The Sportsman, a coaching inn on Nefyn's High Street dating to the mid-19th century that closed in 2009 along with several neighbouring shops. A public meeting in 2018 drew more than eighty residents keen to save it, leading to a community benefit society and a share offer that raised over eighty thousand pounds from more than five hundred shareholders to buy the freehold that November. Building work began in February 2020 and the pub reopened in July 2021, with a four-room guesthouse added at Easter 2023 using European Regional Development Fund support. Every penny it makes goes back into the business or the community, and it hosts music gigs and cultural events alongside Welsh cask ales and home-cooked lunches and evening meals.
