Cwrw Llŷn — Llŷn Beer — was started in Nefyn in 2011 by a dozen friends from all trades, cheesemakers and printers and accountants among them, who pooled their money to buy the kit of a closing brewery and keep beer being made on the peninsula. It is not a formal co-operative on paper, but it works like one: many hands, a shared purpose, a brewery that belongs to the place it is named for. It brews in Welsh and English, runs a taproom and shop at the brewery, and has become a fixture of the Llŷn. Drink it where they make it, in the heartland of the language.
