Mark Holdsworth left a career at Bacardi to start Half Hitch in 2014, distilling gin in a 210-litre copper pot he calls the Smithy, right in the West Yard at Camden Lock. It is a genuinely small, founder-owned distillery — a Camden gin actually made in Camden, taking its name and its botanicals from the market's history of tea and spice. There is a bar and tours can be arranged. In a market of a thousand stalls, it is one of the few things distilled on the spot. Book a tasting and drink the place.
