Hausu, Peckham

Holly Middleton-Joseph opened Hausu with her brother Tom Middleton-Joseph and business partner Christian Williams in autumn 2024, taking over the former station waiting room at Peckham Rye previously occupied by Coal Rooms. Middleton-Joseph, who has cooked at Frank's Cafe, the Camberwell Arms and Mountain, draws on her Chinese and Trinidadian heritage for a short, seasonal menu of small plates served in the high-ceilinged Victorian railway building. A hi-fi sound system and vinyl collection run through service, with an upstairs bar added after opening to extend the listening element beyond the dining room. The restaurant and bar operate from this single Peckham Rye address, with no second branch, its setting inside a working railway station giving it a distinct identity among the area's newer openings.
