The King Arthur sits on the green at Reynoldston, in the middle of the Gower, and has been a free house run by Len and Kim O'Driscoll since 1991 — a proper village inn, with two bars, a restaurant, rooms and cottages, and a fire that earned it a spot on The Times' list of the best cosy pubs in the country. It is the sort of place that anchors a Gower village: locals at the bar, walkers off the commons, a bed for the night above the pub. Family-owned and free of any brewery tie, it does the old job well. Stop for a pint; stay if you can.
