Storysmith

Storysmith is an independent bookshop on North Street in Bedminster, stocking fiction, poetry, non-fiction and children's books alongside locally roasted coffee. The shop opened in 2018 and has built a reputation strong enough to be named the South West's best in the British Book Awards Independent Bookshop of the Year 2025. Staff give hand-picked recommendations rather than relying on bestseller tables, and the shop runs author events and a subscription book service for regular readers. Visitors are as likely to be greeted by Roy, the shop dog, as by a member of staff. It opens Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm, and Sunday, 11am to 4pm, closed Mondays, serving South Bristol readers from a single North Street site rather than a chain of branches.
