Studio 44 Gallery occupies a double-fronted shop on Boyd Street in Largs that traded as a gents' outfitters in the 1930s before Marion Back converted it into her own art studio. Back later opened the space to the public as a gallery, and it now hosts a rotating exhibition programme of original work by Scottish contemporary artists and craftspeople, changing through the season. Alongside exhibitions, Back runs art classes in stained glass, watercolour, collage, gelli printing, pastel painting and photography, and the gallery can be hired for pop-up shows, meetings and courses. The shop-front position on Largs' main street puts it within reach of the town's ferry pier and seafront. Studio 44 is open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 5pm, during exhibition runs, with dates announced through the gallery's own channels rather than fixed year-round hours.
