Taylors ofSale

Taylors of Sale has traded from the same shop on Northenden Road since 1850, making it one of the oldest continuously run businesses in Sale. The business passed through the Baxter and Greenhalgh families before Francis Beard Taylor, who later served as Lord Mayor of Sale, bought the shop from his brother-in-law David Albany Greenhalgh. His son Roy ran the business through the mid-twentieth century, and Frank Taylor became a partner in 1971 as the fifth generation to take charge. Sam Taylor now represents the sixth generation running the counter. The shop sells fresh and prepared meat, including cuts for roasting, barbecuing and slow cooking, and offers a delivery service across Sale, Timperley and Altrincham. A car park sits behind the building for customers calling in. The premises have seen few structural changes since the nineteenth century, and the business remains independently owned by the Taylor family.
