The Mole House is a gift shop and small gallery at 3 Bowmont Street on Kelso's main square, opened in 2010 by Claire Mole, a former professional rally driver. The shop stocks gifts, homeware, ceramics, and designer jewellery sourced from small makers, alongside paintings by local artists depicting Borders and Scottish scenes. Mole makes driftwood mirrors, lamps, and flower arrangements on site, working the material into one-off pieces sold alongside the wider stock. The shop has been voted best gift shop in the region in local readers' polls and takes a dog-friendly approach, with regular four-legged visitors alongside customers. It opens Monday to Saturday from 9.15am to 5pm. The Mole House sits at the corner of Kelso's cobbled square, near the town's other independent shops and cafés.
