The ScarboroughPottery

The Scarborough Pottery is a small ceramics studio on Hoxton Road in Scarborough, run by Taylor Shaw, who returned to her home town after several years as a tutor and production thrower at Farnham Pottery in Surrey. She holds a BA in Sculpture and an MA in Ceramics and now teaches wheel-throwing from her own studio near the seafront. The programme runs from single taster sessions through beginner and improver wheel-throwing courses to ongoing studio memberships for potters who want regular access to the wheels and kiln. One-to-one sessions are also available for those wanting individual tuition rather than a group class. The studio is Taylor Shaw's own business, distinct from the paint-your-own and craft-franchise studios operating elsewhere on the coast, and is built around her own hand-thrown practice.
