Chef-owner Tom Drinkall opened this bistro on the first floor of Lee Carter House, off Lowergate, after eight years working in French kitchens. The dining room looks toward Pendle Hill, and the short menu sets French bistro technique against Lancashire produce, including a beetroot version of his steak dish for vegetarian diners. Drinkall's family farm sits two miles from the restaurant and supplies some of what lands on the plate. Toms Table opens Thursday evenings, Friday and Saturday for lunch and dinner, and Sunday from midday until six, with no service Monday to Wednesday. The compact room and short hours keep tables scarce, and regulars tend to book ahead of weekends.
