Yorkshire Wildlife Park opened in 2009 on the site of a former riding school and petting zoo at Brockholes Farm, near Branton, after local investors bought the land in 2008. It keeps species including polar bears, lions and giraffes across walk-through and drive-through enclosures, and has since added on-site lodges for overnight stays. It is privately owned on a single site rather than run as part of a national zoo chain.
