Padraig Carragher turns wood in a converted mill building on his family's land at Tullymacreeve Road, Mullaghbawn, in the Ring of Gullion. The mill, once known locally as the Big House, now houses his lathe and workshop, and he teaches visitors the craft directly, guiding them through turning, sanding and polishing a small Celtic pendant from timber cut on his own 26 acres of woodland. The pendants are etched with Ogham, the early Irish alphabet once carved onto standing stones. The studio sits alongside a small glamping and touring-caravan site the family also runs, but the woodturning sessions are booked separately from the accommodation. Carragher works the wood himself rather than running a production line, selling finished pieces alongside the taught sessions.
