Ditty's has baked in Castledawson since Bobby Ditty started it in 1963, and is best known across Ireland for one thing above all: its oatcakes, made to a recipe the family has kept for decades and sold well beyond the shop. Bobby's son Robert Ditty runs it now, a family bakery into its third generation. The Main Street shop still sells the bread, cakes and the celebrated oatcakes over the counter, while the wider business supplies them further afield. A village bakery that became a name without leaving the village — the oatcakes are the reason, and they are worth the detour.
