Doghouse Gallery occupies 97-99 Mill Street in Comber, a single showroom opened in 2000 by jeweller and metalworker Pamela Wilson, who graduated in art and design from the University of Ulster in 1987. She started the gallery to sell her own jewellery and sculpture directly, rather than through other retailers, then expanded it to carry studio-made ceramics, textiles, glass and fine art from other designer-makers based in Ireland and further afield. The gallery has traded from the same Mill Street premises since opening and is not part of a wider chain. Visitors can see Wilson's metalwork displayed alongside changing work by the other makers she selects, making it a working showcase for craft practice close to Strangford Lough.
