Benoit Dezecot, formerly a chef at The Sportsman, opened Frog and Scot on Deal's High Street in 2016 with his wife Sarah Ross. The bistro takes its cues from the wine-led bars of Paris, pairing small plates such as whipped cod's roe on focaccia or bayonne ham croquettes with a list of organic and natural wines. A heated terrace at the front gives space for outdoor tables through summer, and the kitchen runs a changing blackboard menu alongside a printed one. The couple also run Le Pinardier, a wine bar and shop a few doors along the same street. Deal's High Street has become known locally for this cluster of small, chef-led places, and Frog and Scot was among the first to establish that reputation.
