Gate FootForge

Gate Foot Forge is the workshop of blacksmith Owen Phillips on Gate Foot Lane in Shepley, in the hills above Holmfirth near Huddersfield. Working at a traditional coke forge, Phillips hand-forges knives, tools, fireplace sets, outdoor cooking equipment and decorative ironwork, selling finished pieces through an online shop alongside bespoke commissions such as gates, handrails and repairs to existing ironwork. He also runs one-to-one and small-group blacksmithing experience days, including basic forging and knifemaking courses that run from 9.30am to 5pm on weekdays, open to complete beginners. All work is made on-site in the forge rather than outsourced. The business operates from this single rural workshop, without a retail shopfront beyond the forge itself and its online store.
