Hogs Back Brewery has run as a family-owned business since opening in 1992 on Manor Farm in Tongham, beside the Hogs Back ridge between Farnham and Guildford. Since 2014 the brewery has grown its own hops in an adjoining field, taking them from field to firkin in a furlong. A converted 18th-century brewhouse holds the shop, while the old hop kiln now serves as the Brewery Tap, its beer garden overlooking the hop garden. Reusable glass flagons sold there have replaced more than 12,000 single-use plastic bottles, and spent grain goes to local farms as animal feed. Guided tours take in the brewhouse and hop garden, and the ridge itself is named for a medieval pilgrimage route.
