Kennet Horse Boat Company operates from Holt Road in Kintbury, a village on the Kennet and Avon Canal near Hungerford, and has run trips since 1970, now under the second generation of the founding family. Its main draw is a horse-drawn barge, pulled at walking pace along the towpath for two to three hour public trips between Easter and the end of September, seven days a week. Outside those months, and alongside the horse-drawn service, the company hires out Cygnet, a traditional 9-metre narrowboat, for self-drive day trips for groups of up to eight people. A recent addition is a small number of shepherd's huts for overnight glamping beside the canal. The business remains family-run from its single base in Kintbury, with no other outposts on the waterway.
