Hamstead Huts is a shepherd's hut glamping site on a 10-acre field at Hamstead Marshall, a village outside Newbury within walking distance of the Kennet and Avon Canal. The site is run by the Kennet Horse Boat Company, a family business the Butler family has operated since 1980, with second generation Stephen and Charlotte Butler now running it hands-on. Each hut sleeps up to four and comes fitted with a wood burner and furnishings for a short stay, with guests sharing separate shower and compostable toilet blocks a short walk from the huts and a firepit with a tripod grill for cooking outside. There is no shop or restaurant on site, so guests bring their own food or walk to the village pub. Hungerford's antiques shops, the Kennet and Avon towpath and Highclere Castle are all around 15 minutes away by car, and the site takes bookings directly as well as through Airbnb and Pitchup.
