Richard and Ellie Shattock have run Penbuckles since 2018, building a deli of Sussex and Kent cheeses, cured meats, sourdough and the local bottle trade — and in March 2026 a lease expiry ended nearly nine Old Town years and moved the whole operation to London Road in St Leonards, told here as it happened because a guide that hides relocations sends people to empty shops. The counter's instincts travelled intact: local first, the cheese room's depth over breadth of brands, Monmouth in the grinder. St Leonards gains what Hastings mislaid; the shop itself simply carried on.
