Graeme Campbell has run The Record Shop from Hill Avenue in Amersham since 2005, buying out the branch when its previous owner, Record House, folded. The shop stocks around 30,000 LPs and singles alongside thousands of CDs, and deals in roughly 300 electric and acoustic guitars, making it as much a musical instrument shop as a record store. Staff buy in vinyl collections and instruments directly from customers, a trade that keeps stock turning over across genres rather than settling into a fixed specialism. The shop keeps conventional retail hours, opening Tuesday to Saturday and closing on Sundays and Mondays, unlike some record shops that trade only at weekends. Campbell's wife Victoria is company secretary, and the business has stayed in the same family's hands since its founding.
