Artichoke occupies 9 Market Square in the old town of Amersham, Buckinghamshire, and has been owned by Chef Patron Laurie Gear and his wife Jacqueline since it first opened in 2002. The cooking is modern British and seasonal, with locally sourced produce and many ingredients foraged from the surrounding area. It received a MICHELIN star in 2019, was AA Restaurant of the Year for England 2013–2014, and appeared in the Good Food Guide's Top 50 UK Restaurants 2020.
