The Thatch Inn occupies a stone building on Broughshane's Main Street dating to 1773, thatched and whitewashed, which has operated as a public house since 1832. Two open fireplaces heat the original Public Bar, while Shane's Lounge upstairs serves an a la carte menu and Sunday lunch to diners. A Royal Crest above the door is said to mark an overnight stay by a travelling English visitor sheltering from a storm on the road to Londonderry. The bar was recently fitted with new cooling lines by Guinness to keep its draught lines in condition. Day-to-day running rests with long-serving staff Kim and Wullie, credited locally with keeping the pub's routines going through the years. The Thatch was named Best Restaurant at the Ballymena Business Awards. Food service runs from breakfast through to dinner seven days a week.
