The VelvetEasel Gallery

The Velvet Easel Gallery has shown contemporary art on Portobello High Street since November 2013, founded by local artist Rosalind Walker. The gallery runs a rolling programme of group exhibitions covering painting, sculpture, ceramics, glass and jewellery, largely by Scottish artists, alongside a stock of limited edition prints, cards and small gifts. The whole gallery sits at ground level, a short walk from Portobello's beach and promenade, and dogs are welcome inside. Rather than representing a fixed roster, Walker curates fresh themed shows through the year, giving both emerging and established artists wall space in the same room.
