Wild Hearth Bakery was founded in 2017 by baker John Castley, who bakes wood-fired sourdough from a unit at Cultybraggan Camp, a former army base outside Comrie. Castley trades wholesale to shops and restaurants across central Scotland and sells directly through a community bread subscription and a monthly stall at Perth Farmers' Market. A retail shop later opened on Comrie's Drummond Street, selling the daily bread alongside pastries and fruit loaves, and drew a large crowd on its opening day according to local press coverage. The bakery placed joint champion at the Scottish Bread Championships in 2023. The Drummond Street shop trades Wednesday to Saturday, 8am to 2pm. Wild Hearth remains a single-site production bakery with one retail counter, independent of any wider bakery group or franchise.
