Comrie Croft

Andrew has run Comrie Croft since 2003, when the 231-acre farm near Crieff was still leased out as a 56-bed hostel. In 2008 around fifty local people, employees and family members bought the farm outright, combining bank finance from Triodos with a 200,000-pound community share offer. What began as a single hostel has grown into twelve linked micro-enterprises, including a farm shop, the Gorse Cafe, a market garden and Nordic-style katas that the on-site crofters built themselves, with wood burning stoves and outdoor kitchens. Camping expanded in 2020 to help the business survive pandemic closures elsewhere on site. Comrie Croft is a certified B Corporation and Living Wage employer, and the combined enterprises now employ more than 40 people generating over 2 million pounds in annual revenue.
