Broighter Gold

Broighter Gold is the Kane family's rapeseed oil, cold-pressed on Broglasco Farm at Myroe, on the flat land between Limavady and Lough Foyle where the Kanes have farmed for generations. Richard, a sixth-generation farmer, and Leona Kane started pressing the crop into oil in 2011 rather than selling it as a commodity, and built a farm shop and tours around it. The oil goes out under their own name and into shops far beyond Derry. An Économusée producer that kept the value on the farm, it is the sort of small, stubborn diversification that keeps a family on its land.
