Cathays Picture Framing & Gallery sits at the end of Malefant Street, identifiable by the purple fence around its car park. Established in 2014 as a framing business, it has since built a gallery function alongside its framing and restoration trade, showing and selling original work by independent Welsh artists; more than five hundred pieces have passed through since the gallery side began. The framing workshop handles custom mounts and frames, including for delicate items such as oil paintings, and the gallery periodically opens calls for Wales-based artists working in two-dimensional media to exhibit. It trades Monday to Friday from ten until five and Saturday mornings, with free parking on site, a rarity for a gallery of its size within the city.
