Crail GolfingSociety

Crail Golfing Society was instituted in February 1786 at the Golf Hotel in Crail, making it the seventh-oldest golf club in the world, and it still plays from a single clubhouse at Fife Ness, the most easterly point in Fife. The society's Balcomie Links was laid out by Old Tom Morris in 1894, though competitions were recorded on the ground from the 1850s, and a second course, Craighead, was added later on adjoining land. Visitors can book tee times, hire clubs and buggies, and arrange a caddie for either course, with the clubhouse serving food and drink to members and guests. The society owns and manages both courses from this one site outside the town, rather than operating additional grounds elsewhere in Scotland.
