Gate 2 Plate opened in 2007 next to the family-run Mayfield Golf Centre at Lower Freystrop, near Haverfordwest, selling beef and rare-breed pork reared on the family's own land alongside locally sourced lamb and chicken. An open-plan butchery at the back of the shop lets customers watch pies, pasties and sausage rolls being made on site, and the counter stocks Welsh cheeses, preserves and other produce carrying the Pembrokeshire Produce mark. The shop operates as a single farm-shop site rather than a chain, trading from the same Freystrop premises since opening. Its position beside the golf centre brings passing custom from golfers as well as locals shopping for the week's meat, with home-reared Welsh Black beef among its regular counter stock.
