Hern is a small bistro on Stainbeck Corner in Chapel Allerton, opened in 2019 by chef Rab Adams in a former vegetarian café. The 33-square-metre dining room seats a limited number of covers, with a short, changing menu built around seasonal, largely organic produce: local cheeses, heritage-breed meat and wild fish, cooked with minimal intervention. Adams previously ran Roops, a Leeds sourdough bakery, before opening Hern. The restaurant also runs an occasional tasting menu alongside its regular à la carte offering and has built a following among Chapel Allerton locals rather than pursuing wider recognition. Booking ahead is recommended given the small number of tables. It operates as a single independent site with no other branches.
