Holmfields Plant Centre has traded as a family-run nursery for around forty years, tracing back to 1985, and is now registered as Holmfields Plant Centre Ltd, incorporated in 2009. Set back from the main road at Ferrybridge, between Pontefract, Castleford and Knottingley, the nursery grows and sells trees, shrubs, seasonal bedding and summer plants alongside compost, decorative gravel and a range of pots sourced from around the world. Its rural setting gives it space for a wide stock range compared with smaller town-centre shops, and it draws customers from across the Wakefield district as well as Pontefract and Castleford. The centre is open six days a week with reduced Thursday and Sunday hours, and staff are on hand to advise on plant choices and garden sundries. It remains independently owned rather than part of any national garden centre group operating in the area.
