Impressions Gallery was founded in York in November 1972 by Val Williams and Andrew Sproxton as one of Europe's first galleries dedicated solely to photography, before relocating to Bradford's Centenary Square in 2007. Its lease there ended in March 2026 and the gallery reopened in April 2026 inside the former Bradford Club on Piece Hall Yard while a permanent new home is developed. It operates as a registered charity funded partly by Bradford Council and Arts Council England.
